It’s Another Poetry Challenge!

Oh Dog! It’s time for our latest Poetry Challenge! I’m so excited!

.

.

I’ve been working really hard on my haiku, so I hope you like them!

.

Spring has sprung, bringing
The miracle of new life.
And lots of sneezes!

.

And because I just HAD to write about my favorite thing-

.

I want a cookie.
Why won’t you just give me one?
Let’s live in the now!

.

One more, and because I want to give equal exposure to kitties-

.

June Buggie’s evil!
Why don’t people believe me?
Cats have all the luck!

.

OK you guys! It’s YOUR TURN!

  1. Here’s a Spring haiku I wrote a couple of years ago:

    Spring is for laughter
…..and I long to hear you laugh
    Let us not waste time!

  2. A window, open
    to a million spring times
    whispering my name…

    *

    I love Rumpy and,
    June and Dede and Jenny
    They are my dear Friends…

    *

    The sun be with you
Angels keep you all in safe
    Blessing to you all….

    *
    Thank you,
Have a nice day and HAPPY MOTHER’ s Day,
    with my love, nia

  3. eripanwkevin Says:

    Yours are always fantastic, Rumpy!!!
Well…mine are not so good but I’ll try!

    Spring has just come here
It brings comfy breeze and green plants
    Let’s get out for sniffing

If you like us, Cat and Dog
Do not hesitate to take us in
    We make your life fun!

Have a good friday, dear Rumpy!!! :)

  4. Great poetry Rumpy!
    and a little haiku:
    Rumpy
    Eat
    Nice
    Cookie
    Happy
    Very!

  5. I’m down with the flu
    My nose I just blew
    But I’m reading Rumpy
    My own dogs beside me
So tho my brain’s a bit addled
And I can’t really be cuddled
I get comfort in my animal friends
And that’s how this awful poem ends. :D

    • I’m sorry you’re sick! I hope your poem made you feel better- it made me smile!

      • Thanks, Rumps, my first attempt, haha. Told you my mind is making me do things I’ve never done before. ;)

Not better but not worse either. That’s a good thing, I guess. :)

  6. Old Kitty Says:

Yay!!! Loved your haikus Rumpy!! :-)

    Here’s mine and Charlie’s!

    Sun behind the clouds
Please come out to play with us
    Banish rain and cold!

    Take care
    x

  7. Austin and I laugh
    At your antics Rumpy Dog.
    You’re a cookie fiend!

    Though you’re just a dog ;)
We can forgive you for this
You have a big heart :)

  8. Well, Rumpy, my Haiku about the park turned into a Dog-ku when Cupcake decided to help. You can probably tell where she chimed in…

    The park has a pond,
    Clover, flowers, birds, and grass….
And someone spilled cheese popcorn and ants crawled on it and I ate a piece and swallowed it – ants and all – before Mom could fish it out of my mouth. Yum. I love the park!!

  9. Yay, Haiku time! *chews on pencil*

    Autumn is now here
search for a spot in the sun
    And at night cuddle

South African weather is upside down to yours, :) And another one

    Birds chirping, eating
Seeds rain gently from the tray
    Carus is watching,

  10. Ok, call this pop-poetry, you know, pop style.

It can be a dead fish a rock or a buoy
As long as it’s at Doggy’s reach
    Immediately becomes a toy.

Well, I forgot my homework and this was last minute.

  11. Here’s one from us, Rumpy:
    A new spring
    No chipmunks?
    Where did they go?
    We now have bluejays
Feathers the color of the sky
    No stripes.

  12. I like cookies too
    But someone munched them all.
    Was it you, Rumpy? :-)

  13. Spring brings new kittens
Hurry down to see the vet
    They aren’t cute for long

Inspired by the fact that my rescued kitty cat is on her way to be spayed next week! Now that she’s weened her kittens…

  14. A Mr. Cheddar haiku:

    Doggies can be fun.
    But Rumpydog, let’s face it.
    It’s felines that rule!

I just know your felines are going to approve of this poem !!!

Happy Weekend, G and the Cheddar Poet

  15. I sleep on the stair
    With sun puddles so many
    Mom walks around me

So I had Mom look up Haiku on eHow…and I gave it my best paw…my subject taken from my blog post for today. I have another new fave nap place…gettin’ braver and more confident…paw pump

  16. I don’t do Haiku
but today I will try to
freely let words flow… Not sure about this, Rumpy. I will have to learn. (:

  17. I love the cookie one!

  18. Rumpy we love your Haikus! You are so talented! Here is ours:

    Standard Poodles love

  19. Hi Rumpy! Your haiku are super swell…..here’s my “ode to Mom”:

    Mother’s Day is here
She deserves to have a hug
    And a head bump too!

    (tee hee………..)
    Kitty Hugs, Sammy

  20. As promised, Rumpy, here is my first haiku I have attempted in many decades:

    Let us frolic now
for spring will soon melt away
    leaving us pant-less.

(Hey, that was a lot more fun than I thought!)

    Gotta luv ya, Rumpy!

  21. Oh yeah, it’s poetry day isn’t it?

    Lounging and lazy
I’m supposed to write a poem
    Maybe tomorrow

Actually Rumpy, you inspired me to put a poem on my own blog. Here’s the link: http://bongodogblog.com/2012/05/10/yucca-yellow-flowers/

PS. I loved your poem about June Buggie.

  22. black buttons shiny
    red raincoat early morning
    dew glints on green leaf

    early spring rains come
    apple blossoms everywhere
    soft white snow drifts down

Yours are all excellent, Rumpy! You and your cookies are so funny, but you’re right about where to live! And, of course, we MUST speak up for June Buggie. Maybe he’s not nice to you, but, just between us cats, he’s our pal and we love him!

  23. Dusty & Hurley Says:

    @JustAnotherTrend
DUSTY: Here’s our Haiku, Rumpy. We love your blog!
HURLEY: I bet you can tell what line “I” wrote.

    Mother’s Day Weekend
    Hope she gets special goodies
    And drops crumbs for me

  24. The breeze in the trees
    things happening out of sight
    scent of Rumpy Dog. :)

  26. The cookie poem is especially good Rumpy :)

  27. You are so talented Rumpy!!

  28. Springtime brings rainbows
    cherry blossom scents the air
    dogs frolic in the park

  29. Talent galore, mom has to think and perhaps she can come up with one!

  30. Hey Rumpy, Jet here.

As I shared with Bongo, I think you’ve attended poetry classes @ Scooby Doo Academy on the down low. What a talented K9!

  31. We will need to take some lessons as we are NOT good at poetry! Happy Mother’s Day to your mama Rumpy!
    xoxo Chloe and Ladybug

  32. Broken heart wet tears
    Comfort from a soulful paw
    Soft muzzle sweet kiss

  33. Head on paws
    Bored sigh cry & whine
    Please come home

  34. Joyful tail wags
The red ball soars through the air
    Run swiftly with glee

  35. Love the poems! So much fun :) !

  36. Rumpy, you´re really a talented dog. We´re a bunch of wild and crazy sled dogs, so all we could come up with is:

    The spring is here
    the snow is gone
    it´s time for other
    kind of fun

not as good and poetic as yours. But what would you expect from gang like us :)

    Have a happy day!

  37. Bravo Rumpy! Hemingway says he doesn’t write but sends his regards.

  38. White cat sleeps on sill
Gray cat slumbers in east bed
