Introducing Ggordon Kitty!

Oh Dog! Do I have a treat for you today! Today’s guest is a Facebook friend who you’re gonna fall in love with! So put your paws together and help me welcome- GgordonKitty Hastedt!!!

Does this guy look cool or what?

Rumpy:  Oh Dog! Thanks so much for being my guest Gordie! How about you start by telling us about yourself?

Ggordon:  Well, Rumpy, first and foremost, I am a cat!

Rumpy:  *snicker* I kinda figured that out Gordie!

Ggordon:  I live with my human mom and dad on an island in the Chesapeake Bay of Maryland.  Dad adopted me back in 1999 from a rescue shelter.

Rumpy:  Way cool!

Ggordon:  In the beginning, it was just me and dad, then he re-married and we lived with mom and her cat, Feindi, in Alexandria, VA.  Since that time we lived in Louisiana, Colorado, and Wyoming, and now in a beautiful home in Maryland because of dad’s jobs.

Nothing like having your bath disrupted by a camera!

In 2009, Feindi went to the Rainbow Bridge and we miss her a lot.  I have a great life and the run of the house (except the forbidden furniture, of course!).   I am an indoor-only kitty.  I am black with a white patch on my chest and another on my belly…I am VERY soft to touch and pretty friendly.  I am ‘tutored’ and de-clawed.  I also have an identification tatoo in my left ear.  I am very even tempered and a pretty big fellow – about 16 pounds.

Rumpy:  Sounds like you got it pretty good there!  So how’d you come to live with your dad?

Ggordon:  In 1999 after Dad retired from the Army, he decided that he needed a cat back in his life so, he and his daughter Lizzie (“Auntie Lizzie”) went to an adoption event at a local PetSmart.  They saw me and immediately fell in love with me…I was wanting to get adopted so I was being especially lovey!  After they gave dad a background check, he adopted me and I’ve been with him for about 13 years now.  Mom and Dad treat me great and love me lots!

Rumpy:  *sniff sniff* That’s beautiful!  Well, speaking of treats, what are your favorites?

Time for a cat nap!

Ggordon:  Oh, Dog – if you know me , you KNOW that answer!  I love salmon (“salmonz”)!!!!  Mostly, I eat Science Diet dry food but when dad makes salmon, I eat a whole bunch!

Rumpy:  *drools*  Stop! You’re making me hungry!  Now one more question for fun Gordie: if you was a dinosaur, what kind would you be?

Ggordon:  I would be a brontosaurus – mom says I sound like one when I come running through the house!

Rumpy:  *giggles*  Way cool! Thanks again for being my guest today Gordie, and please thank your dad for his service to his country.  You guys rock!!!!

You can find Ggordonkitty on Facebook, so check him out!

  28. Hey Gordie sounds like Blossums long lost 1/2 brother. Blossum a big black kitty, super soft with a white patch on her tummy. We adopted her from Pet Smart 2 years ago….huh.

  31. Hi, ya, Gordie! Nice to meet you!
I bet my humans have been near your home. They visit that area of Maryland every summer for a boat race in Cambridge. My “dad” builds race engines , whatever they are!
    Love, Sundae kitty

  32. Heya Rumpy :) ‘Does this guy look cool or what?’ YES!!! That’s a hilarious picture!

Rumpy, I came by with a problem, actually. My son & me took on two cats, which were house cats of the previous owner, though one was from a shelter, so I don’t know what its former life was.

Anyhow, we think they’re happy being indoor cats, but I felt sorry for them and opened my window for them to smell the world. They’d sit there sniffing, seeming to take in so much. Then I expanded that to letting them on our balcony (too high to jump off), and then I got twigs, dirt & a rock from the garden in the flats & put it on the balcony for them to experience. Well, my son has watched me take all these steps and has said I’m torturing them.

I don’t know what to think – what do you reckon, from what you know of cats? We don’t want them to ache for the outside world but rather to be happy indoors, yet experience some real world. Do you think I am “making them unhappy” giving them bits of the outside? I’d really love to know what you think.
