Beauty From the Inside Out!

Oh Dog! DeDe here with another beauty tip to make you look and feel your best!

009

Do not condemn the judgment of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong. ~Dandemis

.

This week’s tip is to live and let live.

It seems to me that humans are always on the lookout for someone who has said or done something that should be held up to public ridicule.

Don’t believe me? Then check out the website devoted to photos taken of people shopping at Wal-Mart. Β Oh, but it’s just a bit of harmless fun!

Is it really? Or is it laughing at people who don’t measure up to what YOU think they should look like, dress like, or just be?

The thing is, it’s easier to look at others and ridicule them than it is to look within and see what needs some work. Making fun of others is easy. Accepting the truth about ourselves is painful.

That’s not to say I don’t call out the actions of others when I disagree with them. But there’s a difference in calling out the actions of others and making fun of others.

Making fun of others has the unwelcome side effect of hardening our hearts and making us appear unapproachable. Since happy people are more attractive, it would do us all good to let go of our animosity toward others and let them be.

It’s not as easy as it sounds. Looking down on people who look down on people is just as internally destructive. It’s one of the sneaky ways that “enlightened” people find to avoid looking at themselves while still maintaining a posture of selflessness.

So in order to keep myself open to others and free of anger, Β most of my focus needs to be on my own problems. Trust me, it’s a full-time job.

.

Have a great week, and never leave your home without this essential beauty product- A SMILE!

  3. That ridicule shows a very insecure person! Why would the reaction not be to get to know them better? Pretty is as pretty does. Our own condition can change in an instant, and we are but one step away from those we ridicule. Do unto others…

  10. Well said. and those Walmart pics aren’t harmless fun. An attorney acquaintance was contacted by a developmentally disabled person featured in one of those mean posts. s/he was devastated by the ridicule and wanted the lawyer to make it stop. He couldn’t. Tacky Walmart shoppers have feelings too.

  15. Reblogged this on The Deroche Decibel and commented:
I think this is a great reminder. I try to be as kind as possible, but certainly fall prey to this kind of behavior. Even the website mentioned here. We are all outcasts to someone!

  16. That was a very insightful and thought provoking post. I was immediately struck by how many times I have done just that. This really hit home for me. Thank you.

  18. Dede is it okay to make fun of yourself? I do it to get my co-workers to crack a smile and relax a Lil. I hope its ok. πŸ™‚ I hope you are doing okay miss dede. Please give you mom cuddles and kisses. Oh another tip for feeling beautiful and loved is to get a trinket box ans fill it with kind phrases about yourself. Go into the box when you are having a bad day.

  22. One of the things that I admire about non-human animals is that when they see someone different, it’s just that, different, not better or worse or complicated… or they see food but that’s another matter. And, they don’t judge themselves. I’ve seen tiny dogs play with or bark at huge dogs.
    Good one DeDe πŸ™‚

  24. Very wise words Rumpy – if we put as much effort into improving ourselves rather than pointing out other people’s flaws, we’d get somewhere! πŸ™‚

  25. DeDe how true,i might speak up if I disagree with someone but that is over an action or words..and usually this is on behalf of the downtrodden…I am a faulty human being so far from perfect it’s not funny..so who am I to judge..unless..unless it’s a cruelty issue or bullying..this I do get my back up over.

  26. DeDe how wise you are!!! Let’s all focus on your problems and then we will be unified!! πŸ™‚ xx

  28. I didn’t know there was such a website. That’s very sad. Mockery of others is a human foiblebut it’s encumbant upon all of us to keep a lid on it and be our best selves.

  29. Hard lesson to learn, still is at times! When I see someone act rude I want to just give them a word-vomit all the way to China. But then that would be the same thing. I would like to strangle people that hurt animals, but then I would be hurting being as well. Bah! Need to constantly slap my instincts in the face. πŸ˜›

    • Now, now. No need to beat yourself up because you do what is human nature. It takes practice. Trust me, Jen has been practicing a lot longer than you, and she still finds herself reacting the same way you mentioned. How about making a point to be nice to one person a day? That’s 365 people in a year. That’s LOTS of people!
