Bubba has now had 5 Adequan shots.
How is he doing?
This was taken this morning. Bubba comes out with the rest of the gang at meal time, and actually eats some with the community. He then retires to Jen’s bedroom where he’s fed separately from the others to ensure he’s not stressed and getting plenty to eat.
Bubba is not fearful as he was before Adequan. He’s more relaxed, and less argumentative with the other kitties.
And to think he’s got 3 more initial shots to go! Dare I hope for yet more improvement?
A reminder that Adequan is not approved for use in cats. This is an off-label use of the medication. But more vets are choosing to use Adequan with cats suffering from arthritis, especially since there are so few pain medication options available.
And at approximately $25 a shot, it’s a reasonably affordable option.
Adequan is administered as two shots per week for 4 weeks, with a booster shot once per month. It was originally developed as a drug for horses, and then approved for use in dogs.
I just wish the drug was approved for use in humans.
Bubba you look good my friend….I hope you’re feeling less pain and enjoying life more now that you’re getting some treatments….shots aren’t fun but if they help then YAY! Sending you major purrrrrrrs my friend….
Hugs, Sammy
Two weeks ago Bubba wouldn’t let the other cats near him, and look at him now!
That is very good news!!! 🙂
It is! I am nothing short of amazed!
You are lookin g very good Bubba – fingers and paws crossed for you
Bubba, that is the best news!
Thanks for the update Rumpy. Bubba is in our thoughts and heart. Sending healing energy.
just saw it on insta too 😉 Bubba will you marry me??
Uh oh! *giggles*
This is such great news!
Hooray for Bubba!! I’m so glad he is feeling better.
So glad your vet tried it. I know what it’s like to make a trip to the vet thinking it’s the last one and coming home with hope. They may get old but we don’t love them less even if they are more work.
Ya got that right. And to see hope turned into recovery is even better!
That’s wonderful news!
I agree!
I’m glad to hear that Bubba is feeling better and the medication is working. The pain from arthritis is awful and would make anyone grouchy and want to be left alone.
I’m glad it worked and to see Bubba today is like a gift :o)
It sure is!
On the first picture, Bubba looks smiling! I’m glad to hear that he now seems to hang out with the other kitties!!! I hope that his medication contunues working well!
Interesting! And I am so glad he is doing well with it, and hope he continues to do so!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I hope so too!
I’m happy to hear good news about Bubba! I hope he keeps improving.
So glad to hear the ever good looking Bubba is responding. And, I hear you about wishing it was approved for humans. Arthritis is no joke.
Indeed!
Rumpy – glad to hear this! Is it being administered sub-q or intramuscular?
I don’t know! I will ask when he gets his next shot.
Thank you for passing along this wonderful news, Rumpy! I wish I had something that would help with my arthritis! But Bubba being better is the most important thing. I know Jen is relieved as well.
Great photos. I’m so happy to read the update on Bubba!!
A joy to see. Go Bubba!
Purrs,
the Chans
Fab .. Good to see him with the others. Give him a pat for me please 🙂
Consider it done!
As we have said before, Phantom had good luck with the adequan shots. He did the initial round of two a week for a month and then went to once a month. We are now increasing it to every other week in the hopes that is will give him more comfort – he has really been sore for the past week. Vet said he can have it as often as Mom is willing to pay even if it is once or twice a week. Glad to hear it is helping Bubba.
Woos – Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
It truly is an amazing drug. How long has Phantom been using Adequan?
Looking good, Bubba. So happy you’re feeling better. Mom wants to know where she can line up for the human shots.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
So glad to hear he is looking and feeling so much better and great to hear a success story with an off-the-label drug. Hopefully Bubba’s story can help some other furfriends find another option in the future 🙂

I have my 11-year-old dog on a canine arthritis med. Hope Bubba feels better soon! All animals deserve long, healthy lives.
Healthy, for sure. What is life if you’re too miserable to enjoy it?
Paws up for this treatment. We lost a bouvier because there was nothing available at that time ( and what there was, he just couldn’t tolerate. It was so difficult.) So happy about this working. So far, so good. YEA!
