Oh Dog! It’s time for our latest Poetry Challenge! I’m so excited!
.
.
I’ve been working really hard on my haiku, so I hope you like them!
.
Spring has sprung, bringing
The miracle of new life.
And lots of sneezes!
.
And because I just HAD to write about my favorite thing-
.
I want a cookie.
Why won’t you just give me one?
Let’s live in the now!
.
One more, and because I want to give equal exposure to kitties-
.
June Buggie’s evil!
Why don’t people believe me?
Cats have all the luck!
.
OK you guys! It’s YOUR TURN!

Let us not waste time!

Posted by rumpydog | May 11, 2012, 5:10 AMI’m down with the flu
My nose I just blew
But I’m reading Rumpy
My own dogs beside me
So tho my brain’s a bit addled
And I can’t really be cuddled
I get comfort in my animal friends
And that’s how this awful poem ends. :D
Posted by tita buds | May 11, 2012, 3:42 AMI’m sorry you’re sick! I hope your poem made you feel better- it made me smile!
Posted by rumpydog | May 11, 2012, 5:09 AMThanks, Rumps, my first attempt, haha. Told you my mind is making me do things I’ve never done before. ;)
Not better but not worse either. That’s a good thing, I guess. :)

At your antics Rumpy Dog.
You’re a cookie fiend!
Though you’re just a dog ;)
We can forgive you for this
You have a big heart :)
Posted by CATachresis | May 11, 2012, 4:05 AMWoo woo woo! Excellent!
Posted by rumpydog | May 11, 2012, 5:07 AMWell, Rumpy, my Haiku about the park turned into a Dog-ku when Cupcake decided to help. You can probably tell where she chimed in…
The park has a pond,
Clover, flowers, birds, and grass….
And someone spilled cheese popcorn and ants crawled on it and I ate a piece and swallowed it - ants and all - before Mom could fish it out of my mouth. Yum. I love the park!!
Posted by Genevieve Petrillo | May 11, 2012, 5:29 AMImprovization…. my favorite kind of poem AND park experience!
Posted by rumpydog | May 11, 2012, 8:21 AMYay, Haiku time! *chews on pencil*
Autumn is now here
search for a spot in the sun
And at night cuddle
South African weather is upside down to yours, :) And another one
Birds chirping, eating
Seeds rain gently from the tray
Carus is watching,
Posted by Nuala Little Goddess (@NualaSiamese) | May 11, 2012, 6:04 AMFantastic!!
Posted by rumpydog | May 11, 2012, 8:22 AMOk, call this pop-poetry, you know, pop style.
It can be a dead fish a rock or a buoy
As long as it’s at Doggy’s reach
Immediately becomes a toy.
Well, I forgot my homework and this was last minute.
Posted by Doggy's Style | May 11, 2012, 8:44 AMHere’s one from us, Rumpy:
A new spring
No chipmunks?
Where did they go?
We now have bluejays
Feathers the color of the sky
No stripes.
Posted by Father Tom | May 11, 2012, 8:56 AMI like cookies too
But someone munched them all.
Was it you, Rumpy? :-)

Posted by rumpydog | May 11, 2012, 10:25 AMSpring brings new kittens
Hurry down to see the vet
They aren’t cute for long
Inspired by the fact that my rescued kitty cat is on her way to be spayed next week! Now that she’s weened her kittens…
Posted by Tiffany (lifewithblondie) | May 11, 2012, 10:16 AMWe have the same problem with a feral
Posted by rumpydog | May 11, 2012, 10:40 AMA Mr. Cheddar haiku:
Doggies can be fun.
But Rumpydog, let’s face it.
It’s felines that rule!
I just know your felines are going to approve of this poem !!!
Happy Weekend, G and the Cheddar Poet

With sun puddles so many
Mom walks around me
So I had Mom look up Haiku on eHow…and I gave it my best paw…my subject taken from my blog post for today. I have another new fave nap place…gettin’ braver and more confident…paw pump
Posted by Savannah's Paw Tracks | May 11, 2012, 11:54 AMI don’t do Haiku

She deserves to have a hug
And a head bump too!

Posted by onespoiledcat | May 11, 2012, 1:49 PMAs promised, Rumpy, here is my first haiku I have attempted in many decades:
Let us frolic now
for spring will soon melt away
leaving us pant-less.
(Hey, that was a lot more fun than I thought!)
Gotta luv ya, Rumpy!
Posted by granbee | May 11, 2012, 2:25 PMOh yeah, it’s poetry day isn’t it?
Lounging and lazy
I’m supposed to write a poem
Maybe tomorrow
Actually Rumpy, you inspired me to put a poem on my own blog. Here’s the link: http://bongodogblog.com/2012/05/10/yucca-yellow-flowers/
PS. I loved your poem about June Buggie.
Posted by Bongo | May 11, 2012, 3:19 PMblack buttons shiny

dew glints on green leaf
early spring rains come
apple blossoms everywhere
soft white snow drifts down
Yours are all excellent, Rumpy! You and your cookies are so funny, but you’re right about where to live! And, of course, we MUST speak up for June Buggie. Maybe he’s not nice to you, but, just between us cats, he’s our pal and we love him!
